Nikki’s first prints were mainly etchings which produced very free and fluid images through a technique called sugar lifting. Recently she been experimenting with drypoint. This technique has given her prints a dark and haunting quality.
Her work is very much inspired by nature and children’s story and fairy tales. Most of her prints now are dry points which are done by drawing into a piece of soft metal and then inking the plate afterwards, wiping and placing dampened paper on top before it is pushed through a press.
The dry point process means that each print is slightly different from each other and the beauty of the print is achieved by the skilful wiping of the plate. No two prints will
ever be exactly the same each has its own unique qualities.
She has been featured in the following publications;
