This street, Brick Lane in East London, has a rich and varied history.  Being just outside the walls of the City of London, business could carry on there, out of control of the City Guilds.  This freedom attracted waves of peoples from different parts of the world, being with them different skills, lifestyles and food. It is currently well known for it's curry houses.
